What You Wear Matters
The truth about activewear and why we're doing things differently.
The Problem with Synthetic Activewear
Most activewear today is made from fabrics like polyester, and nylon. These are Petroleum-based synthetic materials designed for durability, not for your body. they are plastics.
Here is what that means in practice: Every time you work out in synthetic activewear, you're heating up plastic against your skin. When plastic heats up, it sheds, tiny microplastic particles that can be absorbed through your open pores, inhaled into your lungs, and washed into our waterways.
These synthetic fabrics are often treated with chemicals to make them antibacterial, odour-resistant, stain-proof, or wrinkle-free. Chemicals like phthalates, PFAS (forever chemicals), BPA, and formaldehyde, known endocrine disruptors that can interfere with your hormones.
500,000 tons of microplastic fibres from synthetic clothing enter our oceans every year. That's the equivalent of 50 billion plastic bottles, from the clothes designed to make us healthier. Scientists have found microplastics in human blood, lungs, placentas, and newborn babies.
Why Natural Fabrics?
Natural fibres aren't "alternative." They're the original.
Plant-based fabrics like bamboo, organic cotton, and Tencel work with your body's natural systems, not against them. They breathe. They regulate temperature. They wick moisture without chemical treatments. And at the end of their life, they return to the earth instead of sitting in a landfill for centuries.
Meet Our Fabrics
We have chosen three natural fibres, each with their own strengths. Here's what they do for your body:
Tencel (Lyocell)
Made from sustainably harvested wood pulp in a closed-loop process. It naturally odour resistant, breathable, super soft, and fully biodegradable
Organic Cotton
Breathable, hypoallergenic, and kind to sensitive skin. Grown without harmful pesticides, it's better for you and the farmers who grow it.
Bamboo
Naturally antibacterial, temperature regulating, and silky soft. It keeps you cool when it's hot and warm when it's cool. Bamboo grows quickly without pesticides and is fully biodegradable at end of life.
